From a previous post on a group... Back in June 2008...
Alright, so not completely converted, never will be, but I am discovering what the sport bike community is all about... and I got to experience first hand the true feeling and brotherhood that exist in this biker community... the other side...
I decided to spend Friday night with my sister and her friends...all of them promising me a night I'll never forget! I showed up at my sisters house late afternoon after work, and hung out on her couch watching tv, getting extremely nervous for the evening I was about to spend with them... Talk of ramping, making sure I have the proper gear, and well, boys... one in particular (but that's a different story...) So 7 pm rolls around, we're dressed with so much leather that I thought if you put an egg in my jacket, it's sure to cook... Her friend (B.) shows up on a Honda CBR F4i... not his usual bike... usually he rides a Honda CBR 600rr and I was to get on with him... no issues with that... I trust him! Turns out he plated and insured his F4i for... well, for me! Can you believe that??? The bike has been parked for a year, cause well he has his other one, but he put it on the road so that I could truly feel what it's like to (no offence) REALLY ride! Ok... so now I'm even more nervous! My sister turns on our helmet communicators, and we're off...
We speed to his place and pick up his other bike, and I hop on the F4i alone... we ride all around town... to the Innis Timmis... now it's time to have some real fun! I hop on the back of B. bike (600rr) and we do about 4 laps of ramps, before our fun is stopped short by police... For all of you who have never done ramps... I can't even begin to describe the feeling... our first lap was a warm up one... slow and easy... I thought it was fast until I heard my sister in my ear say... "k.. hold on tight". I felt dizzy and sick after the Blair off ramp, entering at 90 Km/hr and exiting at over 115... sheer craziness! Don't know if you guys realize that that off ramp is a complete circle!
We head back to the Timmis and I get back on the F4i... we head to Anderson road, and then to Hogsback... that much spoken about hang out for the speed demons! We leave there and head to Colonel By, and hang downtown for a few minutes... we head back to the InnisTimmis...
By this time it's midnight, I'm tired and don't feel like driving anymore... B. and I return the F4i to his house, and I 2-up with him again... we head back to the Timmins... wait... are those cars stopped on the highway? Oh... we're just going really fast...
Back at the Timmis... What's next? CBC? Colonel By again? This time at their speed... not mine... Again, my sister in my ear, "hold on tight"...
Anderson Rd... over 200 Km/hr... Ever feel like if you let go you'll actually fall off???? Crazy... Then Colonel By... at over 130> Km/hr... again... crazy! Then CBC... Wow...
We got back to Hogsback and I couldn't even move! Every muscle in my body was stiff! B. taps me to get off and I tell him I need a few minutes... he laughs...
Well, back to the house, it's 2 am and we need to get up tomorrow... I dream about it all night! Don't think I got much sleep!
So... have I found a new passion for riding? Absolutely... and I'm learning with the safest and smartest sport riders I know... and in the city! Next weekend, I get to take out the F4i again, try some new stuff, push a little harder... of course I'll be getting on with my driver of choice (B.) for the really exciting stuff... But I figure by the end of the summer, I might be able to say that I do ramps too... as a driver, not just a passenger...
The cruiser world and the sport bike world... 2 worlds so far apart, but in many ways the same... just looking to ride and have fun! Awesome! I'm in...
Until next time...
(Please do not share details of the speeds that we reached with my mother.. as she would kill both my sister and I... seriously... thanks!)
